Galería Nacional e Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña

Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña: The Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña is responsible for establishing cultural policies for Puerto Rico. It is located at the site of the Spanish Welfare House. Its mission is to promote arts, museums, theater, and music, among other things. It not only promotes Old San Juan arts, but many other municipalities in Puerto Rico. Galería Nacional is a museum that has the largest collection of Puerto Rican paintings from the eighteenth century to the 1960s. The monastery along with adjoining San Juan Church is one of the first significant works of architecture on the island.
