Department
of state was created July 25, 1952. It carries out administrative services such
as circulate, publish, certify, and advertise the laws and regulations of the
government of Puerto Rico, issue licenses for the use of professions regulated
by the State, process passports for the citizens of U.S.A, organize all
government related protocol matters, and keep a record of the government posts
appointments made by the Chief Executive. It also publishes the proclamations
issued by the Secretary of State and assists people visiting Puerto Rico for
research or educational purposes through the Department’s Cultural Exchange and
Technical Cooperation section. Our current secretary for the department of
state is David E. Bernier which was appointed by our governor Alejandro Garcia
Padilla.
